What are your views on the poliece? No matter where we live or from what country, we all encounter them at sometime. What do you guys think of them? I personally think what they do is amazing how they serve everyday and put their lives on the line. There are some corupt ones though like with every group of people, but I've always had great experiances with them. I'm going on a ride along program with some soon to learn more about what they do. Have you guys had any negative experiances with cops?

I had to deal with them a few times... Luckly noone got arrested. I had a cop try to hit on me while he was driving me home. LOL

Oh wow! That's pretty funny! Being in a relationship with a cop would be sort of weird to me.

My father has encountered a racist police officer. My dad said that he had been going 65 when the speed limit was 55. And when the police officer stopped him, my dad was very truthful with him. But the officer wrote him a ticket and told him: "Now get the hell on Nigger! And next time I see you, I'll be sure to arrest you. The reason why you got this ticket is the reason niggers shouldn't be allowed to drive, or even be in public for that matter."
The audacity of some people!
My dad has been stopped plenty of times by the police, but that was the only ticket he's ever gotten. I think they let him get away with it because he is truthful, patient, and very kind and reasonable toward the officers.

Wow, that's awful! I think sometimes officers should be much better trained than they are on how to act toards different types of people. I think that officer was talking shit and looking for something to do that day. I'm glad your father didn't get arrested and hopefully he won't ever have to deal with that officer again.

Uhhhhh, training? Officers should deal with everyone the same. There shouldn't have to be training on how to treat black, Latino, Asian, or any other nationality. People are people are people. Our blood is all the same color, and we all eat, shit, and breathe. Why should there be training on dealing with people of different color?
This is how it should be: If you're racist, you shouldn't be permitted to hold positions in the executive or legislative branches.

Yeah, I agree. They should be better evaluated before joining the force and racist ones weeded out.

I'm prety cyncal towards the police, and really, any position of power. I'm sure most of it comes fromt he fact that I was born in Mexico, a country where you can bribe the police after committing an offense, and where the police easily finds reasons to detain you. but I've seen my good share of corrupt cops here in the states. So while I respect the legitimate ones, my feelings towards them is that they're also human, and subject to our ups and downs.

Oh yes, I never really stated my opinions of the police.
I think they're very useful, and a big help in society. Police officers have been involved quite a bit in my personal life, and I must be grateful to them for being there and ensuring my safety and well-being. I think that many of them are heroes: putting their lives on the line for others, saving lives, and just helping out around the community. You could never get paid enough money to do that. I think most of them are really good people.

While I think there can be some police officers that are jerks or that can otherwise abuse their position, I think police in general are good people who are doing their job to keep us safe and to watch over the prisoners in jail/prison. It annoys me when parents make police sound bad such as when they tell their children to put on their seatbelts because the police are nearby or will stop them. I think that could send the wrong message of either being scared of the police or just to try not to get caught doing something wrong by them.
